Frequently asked questions

IS DERMACURO’S PAIN BLOCKER VNDD A TGA APPROVED MEDICAL DEVICE?

Yes. The Dermacuro Vibration Neural Distraction Device is entered in the TGA’s ARTG register as a Class I medical device.

WHAT ARE THE TYPICAL USES OF DERMACURO’S VNDD?

Dermacuro's VNDD can be used in any procedure that induces pain due to skin penetration, including:

• Superficial minor surgical procedures

• Venepuncture for blood collection

• Immunisations

• Aesthetic injection procedures (particularly in areas where the skin cannot be easily numbed using topical local anaesthetics) eg: muscle relaxers, fillers

• Intra-oral for dental procedures (with suitable infection control protocols)

• Joint or tendon injections eg: in radiology, sports medicine or orthopaedics

• Microneedling or dry-needling procedures

• Podiatry procedures

• Suture removal, drain removal

• IV cannula insertion

Our VNDD may have a particularly beneficial effect on patients who are anxious about the injection procedure or have a low pain tolerance

ARE THERE ANY CONTRADICTIONS TO THE USE OF DERMACURO’S VNDD?

No – there are no absolute medical contraindications for using Dermacuro Pain Blocker VNDD. However, some patients may not like the vibration sensation on their skin and some children with hyper-reactivity to various stimuli may find the vibration too distracting or overwhelming. To assess patient suitability for using Dermacuro Pain Blocker VNDD, it is recommended to demonstrate its use to the patient on their inner forearm to assess how they feel about the vibration prior to using it for pain relief during an injection.

ARE THERE ANY HARMFUL EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE USE OF DERMACURO’S VNDD?

This unique Pain Blocker device only uses vibration for effective and immediate pain relief. No medications, cold sprays or local anaesthetic injections are required to minimise the pain sensation. As soon as the device is switched off, the vibration stops and the effects of pain relief via nerve distraction cease. There are no known harmful effects or potential complications from using the Dermacuro Pain Blocker VNDD for temporary pain relief from superficial injections.
